Thermal tolerance

  • Among the 13 fish species studied, Apocryptes bato is the most tolerant one followed by Labeo bata and Channa punctata
  • Thermal tolerance for the carp species was in the order of L. bata > C. catla> C. mrigala > L. rohita (p<0.05)
  • Fingerlings are more tolerant than table sized fishes
  • In Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala, slower increment of temperature improved thermal tolerance with respect to both critical temperature and survival
