Culture based fisheries

• Climate resilient CBF strategy introduced in three wetlands viz. Media and Chand wetland from West Bengal and Vembanad wetland from Kerala
• Climate smart fish species stocked in wetlands i.e., S. sarana, Mystus gulio, L. bata along with IMCs and exotic carp Ctenopharyngodon Idella
• C. idella is a biological control to a variety of macrophytes and efficient converter of carbon to blue carbon
• Fish yield of the Media wetland increased to 488.09 kg/ha/year
• Natural stock of S. sarana and L. bata were severely depleted in the wetlands but the species were re-established through CBF
• Other strategies: Replenishment of fish stocks and Biodiversity conservation, Desiltation, Maintenance of link channels, Improvisation of fishing implements, Pre-summer enclosures, Deep pool refuge system and Periphyton-based fish farming
