Cage culture system

• Cages can be used to examine the growth and reproductive pattern of stocked fishes, production and conservation of indigenous species, and holding fish stocks in case of flood and storm
• In cages, fishes are enclosed and secure in control environment and can be shifted to deeper parts in case of water depth issues
• Outer nets prevent loss of fish stock and harvesting/shifting is easy in case of warnings
• Fish farming in floating cages demonstrated as climate resilient strategy in a wetland in West Bengal
• Climate resilient species like S. sarana and L. bata stocked along with IMCs
• Production of 2322kg from cages released in wetland as input for CBF
