Coastal wetlands

• Impact of climate change is severe when it comes to the coastal fisheries and communities
• During recent extreme events (i.e. Cyclone Amphan in 2020 and Yaas in 2021), many river associated bheries in the coastal area of West Bengal were destroyed
• Reported loss of fish stock due to the escape of many stocked fishes (Lates calcarifer, Mugil cephalus, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, Penaeus monodon etc.)
• Studied the effect of cyclone Fani in Odisha and 2018 flood in Kerala revealing impact on coastal wetland ecosystem, fisheries and livelihood
